Morris County- Tourne County Park Update

First the good news. Last year JORBA obtained permission for a trail improvement project at the Tourne County Park in Boonton NJ. This involved a new section of the red trail that incorporates switchbacks as an alternate to the eroded fall line that gets wider and deeper by the year. We flagged a proposed route, captured a GPS track and provided this along with maps to the MCPC. It is currently under review. There has not been many trail improvements to the park in several years, and this would be among the first led by JORBA.

National Trails Day @ WVP/CR Saturday June 7th @ 9am

It’s that time of the year, National Trails Day. We will be hosting again at Washington Valley Park (AKA Chimney Rock). It's Saturday June 7th @ 9.00am. The planned project is to make the changes/improvements to the new High Tech & switchback trails on Yellow. When we’re done, the trails should be more rideable for the masses. High Tech Landscapes, Inc has again offered a small crew to help us get the project done but we still need extra help as there is plenty to do.

- Meeting @ the Vosseller Ave parking area at 9:00am (Where Hillcrest & Vosseller connect)

Warren County Trails

For those of our members who reside in Warren County, we encourage you to attend this special event at one of the county parks. If you want more riding opportunities in your area, make sure you speak with representatives of the Warren County Board of Recreation Commissioners (BORC). Let them know you are also a JORBA member!

Ringwood Trails in Jeopardy

Last year Ringwood State Park officials had decided that three illegally built jumps that landed on existing trails, were dangerous and had to be removed. I am very sad to report that two of these jumps have been rebuilt and the park has called in the Park Police to investigate the situation. The park plans to handle illegal trail building like vandalism of natural resources.
