Hunting Season in WMA's 2016-2017

For safety reasons and to avoid interference with hunting activities, access for off road cycling is reduced between September 15th and March 1st, Monday through Saturday. There are no riding restrictions on Sunday though hunting is still permitted.

In Wildcat Ridge WMA we have negotiated that the Wildcat Ridge Trail (Yellow) may be used all days and there are no riding restrictions on Sunday though hunting is still permitted.

Cyclists should make reasonable effort to avoid hunters and wear bright colors to increase visibility.

NJDEP WMA Survey 2016

If you ride in a Wildlife Management Area (WMA), please consider participating in this survey by the NJDEP.

While mountain biking is permitted, you may notice it is not listed in the activities (#3), in which case you need to add this as "Other: Please describe.

There is also an opportunity for suggestions on capital improvements (#4).
While there is an option to select "hiking trails" there is none for multi-use trails.
This could be entered in "Other: Please describe"

Lastly, there is an opportunity to provide general feedback in #10.

TLC-NJ Pedal for Preservation 2016

If you have the means, please consider this opportunity to get the family out on the trail. As off road cyclists, we often benefit from the land preserved by this organization. They also help counties and townships develop master plans for recreation and land use. Your participation helps to support their operations and show how appropriate off road cycling is for public land.

Sparta Mountain WMA Forest Stewardship Plan

We reviewed the plan and did not see any policy changes related to off road bicycle access or development of trails. There will be logging and it may on trails you use, but any closures or disruption should be temporary.
The plan is available at the link below and comments are due 3/1/16.

Mountain Lakes

Representatives of JORBA attended the Mountain Lakes Woodlands Management Committee meeting to offer their trail maintenance services in benefit to the users of Richard M. Wilcox Park. The meeting proved to be constructive for the initial steps of starting dialog and establishing a working relationship with Mountain Lakes. This park is contiguous with the Tourne, but has a limited multi-use trail policy.
