2019 Grasshopper Kid’s Race!

The 9th Annual Grasshopper Kid’s Bike Race is on for Saturday, August 10, thanks to JORBA, Essex County Parks, Cycle Craft and lots of volunteers

Yes, it’s still the 9th Annual Grasshopper because last year’s event was a wash out……that was the first ever race fail in 9 years

To register the racers, go to this year’s registration page, fee is still $10.00 and no processing fee or licenses!

As always this is a kid’s race for any racers in grade 8 or lower in Fall 2019……yes even pre-K kids can tear it up in the K – 1 class that starts racing at 0900

Registration on race day will be doable up to about 15 minutes before your racer’s scheduled start time,
Start Times and Categories/Classes and distance

  • K – 1st grade boys 9:00am, girls 9:05 am 0.6 miles
  • 2nd – 3rd grade boys, 9:35am, girls 9:40am 0.9 miles
  • 4th – 5th grade boys, 10:15am, girls 10:20am 1.5 miles
  • 6th – 8th grade boys, 11:00am, girls 11:05am 1.8 miles


The Kid’s Korse is now located along the rail trail near the new Cedar Grove Community Center on Fairview Avenue in Cedar Grove, here’s a link to a google map that will help

Note that the closest parking is actually going to be at the Alaris Assisted Care facility in Cedar Grove on Keeney Street, they have been super kind and generous and are allowing parking in their back parking lot on the day of the race!

Public bathrooms and additional parking are available at the community center on Fairview Avenue
