Pictures of every racer by GT Luke, enjoy and share and download and print
Saturday, August 13 was a hot day for for racing but over 60 kids came out to ride the challenging Kid’s Korse.
And before anyone asks, next year’s event is already on the calendar, Saturday, August 12, same kid’s korse, same start times etc
Lots of smiles and high fives all around to everyone who came out to race and to all the volunteers who make this event safe and successful. In no particular order, Ronda, Anne, Derek, Dave, Mary, GTLuke, Stephen, Dino, Frank, Sam, Ben, Brendan, Nina and Stephen.
Big thanks to Cycle Craft for safety inspections and Essex County Parks for saying yes to kid’s racing and helping set up the event
Important update, there’s a really great new middle school high school mountain bike program starting now called NICA, check it out to see how far kids who have hardly ever ridden a mountain bike can go, a New Jersey chapter with riding, racing and coaching is forming and looking for all levels of riders, newbies through experienced riders, group rides throughout the fall and winter (or other activities), bike events are in the spring so don’t conflict with other bike events.

You can sign up right here: Click for BIKEREG Registration Link No license needed, this is a fun race for kid’s, not a hard core enduro for the parents!
All kids from pre K to grade 8 (based on grade in fall 2016) are invited to the Kid’s Korse to compete for medals and this year’s bragging rights.
The course will be the same one used in last season’s race, it offers a variety of challenges and is already open for practice laps any time you want.
As always, practice makes a big difference at this event and a good running bike is critical. CycleCraft will have a technical inspection for all racers on race day but are also ready any day to help with race prep at their 4 store locations right now.
Please be sure to tell lots of friends and family and prepare to cheer for both kids and the adult fun laps
Registration on the day of racing opens at 7:30am, (and closes 15 minutes before start of each category)
All participants must pay a $10.00 registration fee (pre registration and day of registration same price) and sign a waiver at the race site. The participant’s bicycle must pass a technical inspection. A parent or guardian must be present to sign waiver and must be present during the race.

2015 Another successful Kids race in the books!
The 6th Annual Hilltop Grasshopper was another fantastic day of racing. The course challenged all the riders but they stayed strong to navigate the hill and twisting single track thru the woods. We are super grateful for the support of JORBA, Cycle Craft Bicycle Store and the Essex County Parks Department who all do so much to make this event a reality.
Here’s a link to FREE photos of all the racers, generously provided by JORBA member Luke Kelly, action photographer extraordinaire who makes sure that racers and their families have a great memory of the Grasshopper
We are already looking forward to next season and 7th Annual Hilltop Grasshopper on Saturday, August 13.
Keep riding and enjoying your time on the bike, the Kid’s Korse is always open and may even get a bit longer for next season!
