Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association Allamuchy chapter honors late member with bicycle giveaways to children
ALLAMUCHY — The 2009 Brian Hahl Bicycle Giveaway is an essay contest in memory of Brian Hahl, a dedicated friend, teacher, and passionate mountain biker who was a member of the Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association (JORBA). A new mountain bicycle will be awarded to two children with the best essays.
The contest is open to 5th, 6th and 7th graders who are residents of Warren County. To enter the contest, eligible children should submit a one-page essay telling JORBA why they feel that they deserve a new mountain bike and what winning a new bicycle will mean to them.
Each essay entry should include name, address, e-mail, phone number, school system and grade. Essay entries will be read and judged by JORBA’s board members; winners will be notified personally. The contest deadline is Dec. 15; all entries must be postmarked or emailed by Dec. 15. Mail entries to: The Brian Hahl Bicycle Grant Essay Contest, Attention Karen, 204 Kerrs Corner Road Blairstown, NJ 07825 or e-mail y to Allamuchy@JORBA.org
As both an educational and charitable organization, JORBA encourages volunteerism and responsible riding, while advocating off road cycling as a healthy, environmentally sound, and sustainable activity. Working closely with land managers, park officials, and other trail user groups, JORBA seeks to protect the rights and responsibilities of cyclists as equal members of the trail user community. With over 500 members at chapters throughout New Jersey, JORBA actively works toward conservation, development, and maintenance of trails.
