The Ranger Department of the Somerset County Park Commission

is inviting the public to participate in the 2008 Subaru/International Mountain Bike Association Trail Care Crew event at Washington Valley Park, Martinsville.

The free program runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12. They will discuss trails; teach proper sustainable trail building techniques; clean, repair and rebuild the existing trail system; inspire volunteer trail work; and conclude with a Mountain Bike Ride through the park.

The weekend at Washington Valley Park is part of a yearlong tour by the Trail Care Crew, working with local agencies to educate interested public in the positive environmental issues and preservation of natural trail systems.

"We are grateful for the efforts of Subaru and IMBA," said Dave Dendler, the park rangers' administrator. "Our trails are used extensively and the information that they present goes a long way to support our efforts to provide safe, interesting, and beautiful trails throughout our park system."
Registration is required; call (908) 231-0802, Ext. 24. Washington Valley Park is on Newmans Lane south of Washington Valley Road.
Other sponsors of the event include Eastern Mountain Sports and the Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association.
