With just over 38,000 acres, Brendan T. Byrne State Forest is the second largest state forest and is located in the pine barrens. The forest offers many outdoor recreational activities such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, birding, fishing and hunting.
Chris Schultz will lead our JORBA Chapter for Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. Chris was born and raised in South Jersey and is passionate about cycling. Due to injury, he switched from soccer to cycling and has raced mountain bikes, cyclocross, and gravel disciplines since the late 1990s. He also promoted and directed the Mayhem Mountain Bike race held in March from 2015 to 2024 and will only direct it in 2025. Chris is a JORBA member and a former Jersey Action Riders (JAR) member. By day, Chris is an assistant dean and adjunct professor with a diverse background in public service, including local government administration, emergency management, and volunteer fire service. His expertise is in leadership, organization and administration, and budgeting.
