Chapter Resources
Welcome, Chapter Head!
To help you utilize the JORBA website to build membership, sponsorships, volunteering and funding for your chapter, we’ve put together a page filled with resources.
Here you can learn about areas of the website that are relevant to you and your chapter – like the “Find a Chapter” page and your chapter’s Park page. If you still need help after exhausing your resources here, reach out to Ken Seebeck for assistance.
Holding an Event?
Share this link to the waiver with your volunteers or riders prior to the event – through email or in a social post.

At the event, direct people to the home page of the website (jorba.org) where they’ll find a quick link button that will take them to the waiver.

How Memberships and Sponsorships Work
Grow JORBA’s membership and your park’s funding! When you get questions, have answers.
When people ask:
- “How do I become a member?”
Direct them to JORBA.org. They’ll find a button that will take them to the Membership page.
- “Can I set up a subscription?”
Yes! You can choose an annual or one-time membership. If they had a subscription in the old site, we need them to renew and start a new membership on the new site. - “How do I allocate my membership to this chapter?”
There’s an option to choose your chapter to allocate funds to. - “What do I get?”
All Individual and Family memberships (excluding the base $25 green circle membership) include coupons to use toward JORBA gear in the shop. The higher the membership, the greater the kickback. - “What if I don’t want JORBA gear?”
That’s ok! Skip the shop. That means more of their donation will be put towards the trails. - “Can I just make a donation?”
Yes, through the membership section, there’s a button that takes you to a general donation form. The person can donate however much they like. There’s also an OFFLINE payment option that provides instructions for sending a check after submitting their promise of a donation.
When Shops/Clubs Ask:
- “Can we become members?”
Yes, on the Membership page, there’s a section for both shops and clubs to become members for $100/yr. During the process they can choose to allocate funds to your chapter.
- “How do I Sponsor your chapter?”
We have a sponsor page where they can choose from a $500 or $1000 sponsorship. During the process, they can choose to allocate funds to your chapter.
- “What do I recieve in return?”
JORBA will list you among our sponsors online and in other ways. - “What if I want to offer JORBA members a discount?”
Great! As a sponsor or shop member, we’ll list their discount on the member benefits page. Members can take proof of their JORBA membership to redeem the offer. We’re working on a membership card to ease this process.
Your Chapter’s Park(s) Pages
Make your page work for you! Know what’s on it and keep it updated.
How to Find your Park’s Page
There are several ways to find your page.
- Navigate to the PARKS page of the website. Above the map, you’ll find a secondary navigation for the various regions – North, Central, South and Bordering. Hover over your region and these park links will take you directly to your park page.
- From the main navigation under PARKS, you’ll find the four regions pages listed. Choose your region. Scroll below the map to see a list of parks to choose from.
- From the main navigation under under VOLUNTEER, click on FIND A CHAPTER. In the list of chapters you’ll find links to your park page(s).
What is Included on Your Park’s Page
You can request updates for any of the following:
- Image of your park in the header
- Intro description of your park
- A section for more detailed info about your park (scroll below trail map)
- A Quick Info section including:
– general location
– other park websites
– stewarding chapter
– contacts
– how to join the mailing list
– MTBNJ links
– links to other parks joined or stewarded by the same chapter.
These are also included:
- Trailforks map of your park
- Trailforks listing of trails in your park (if available)
- News Posts related to your park (these appear if the Category associated with the post includes your park’s name)
- Events – this section appears below your Quick Info section when a future event includes the Category associated with your park. (see the Events Video if an event is not appearing on your page)
News Posts and Events
Prepare what you’ll need before you add your information.
What You Need for Both:
- Unique Title
Use a different title for each news post or event. Struggling with this? Add a date like 6/24 at the beginning/end. - Description
Be specific, even reuse the words from your title. It may seem redundant but Google loves it! And the more info you can share the better. - Category
Choose your park as a category so it shows up on your parks page. This is necessary for every event or news posts. - Featured Image
Horizontal images work best. Crop if you can before upload. Ideal size is 1200px x 628px. This isn’t a hard rule but they appear better when shared in social posts or even texts.
What You Also Need for Events:
- Date/Time
There’s an “All Day” option as well. - Location
If your location is not an option, add it with an address if possible. This allows attendees to use google maps link in the description. - Organizer
This is JORBA, unless there’s a 3rd Party running the event. - Event Website (Optional)
Only needed if a 3rd party is hosting the event or there’s more info elsewhere. - RSVP (Optional)
Add this if you want a count of those attending, or can only accomodate a certain capacity. You can view anyone that signs up through the event on the back-end of the site.
Quick Tips:
More people on the website means MORE MEMBERSHIPS! So…
- Add events far in advance to give people time to notice them.
- Once an event is added to website, share the link on social media. It will pull the featured image you used into your post. Briefly describe the event and include time and location. If you have a lengthy description in the event or want people to RSVP, encourage them to click through to the event.
- Follow your event up with a News Post to keep people interested and informed. You can share the post’s link to encourage people to view it on the website.
Having Trouble Adding News Events?
We encourage you to submit on your own. However, if you’ve watched the video and are still having issues, you can complete the News Post Form or complete the Event Listing Form and JORBA staff will post for you.
